How this poll works

It can be wrong. This is an unofficial exit poll by students of the Department of Political Science. Only the Returning Officer's count is official.

Who is in it

Students who had voted and chose to fill in an anonymous form afterwards. No name or ID is collected. People were not picked at random, so some groups may be over- or under-represented.

One entry per person

Each phone can submit once. That stops casual repeats but not a determined person using another phone or browser, and entries are not otherwise checked.

What the numbers are

Raw counts of the answers received, shown as percentages of those who answered each post. The ± figure is the usual 95% margin of error from sample size alone. It does not cover who chose to take part or whether everyone answered truthfully, so the real error can be larger.

When we call a post

A post is called only when the gap between first and second is larger than the margin of that gap, and not at all below 30 answers. Otherwise it says "Too close to call".

Association Secretary

Shown per department, and only once a department has at least 15 votes.

Turnout

Real turnout by class or department is not available, so no correction for it is possible.

What you can safely say

"Among students who took part, support looked like this." Please do not say "X has won".
